Proverbs 13:25, “The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.”
This is my favorite week of the year—Thanksgiving week! I love the cool weather, smells, and food! God knows that the vast majority of us love good food and we love to eat!
Yes, everyone loves a great meal! Sitting around the family table and eating without guilt, followed by several dessert options. Soon you are full and very satisfied. But can you imagine going out to eat, same scenario described above, yet never finding satisfaction. How frustrating. So, I eat again and again, and still no satisfaction. Over and over I go back to the table and eat and eat and still no satisfaction.
That’s how God describes the life of a person who seeks fulfillment outside of Him. As we seek gratification in and from the world we find that it simply demands more and gives back less. Yet those who feed their souls on the Word of God find contentment. Jeremiah 15:16 states, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart,” and Psalm 119:103 reinforces this when the psalmist proclaims, “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Let’s Eat!
